Job Purpose
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of forecast BA Group results, Financial Plan.
  • Analysing, understanding and communicating meaningful financial reporting on BAs business performance to support timely and accurate reporting to BA Board, BA Leadership Team and IAG Reporting Team.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Play a key role in:
    • preparing and explaining forecast corporate financial performance on a monthly basis, including reviewing management accounting submissions
    • annual financial planning process
    • preparing monthly reporting pack to Chief Financial Officer
    • prepare monthly variance analysis (movements versus last forecast, financial plan and last year)
  • Support key corporate goals and objectives through the preparation of consolidated group forecasts, and the monthly tracking of actual results such as financial performance, manpower and capital spend
  • Develop a broad understanding of financial aspects and key drivers of the business
  • Support ad hoc corporate or departmental initiatives/projects such as re-plan and requests from BA Leadership Team
  • Work within and promote the internal controls environment - implement control mechanisms, monitor, review and continuously improve

Key Interfaces

  • Work closely with other Finance Analysts and Finance Managers within:
    • Financial Planning and Analysis team
    • Financial Reporting team
    • IAG Reporting Team
    • Key finance managers across the Directorates and Subsidiaries

Essential Qualifications

  • Full professional finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA or equivalent
  • Degree (Desirable)


  • Preparation of group consolidated accounts or an audit background with experience of consolidation; and
  • Experience of management accounting and analytical experience desirable


  • Good understanding of group consolidation principles and good level of practical finance experience in management accounting
  • Numerate and accurate
  • Experience of financial accounting (including IFRS and UK GAAP) and internal controls an advantage
  • Experience of finance systems an advantage, such as Hyperion (Essbase) and Smart
